I love the ability to add shortcuts, display controls in the menu bar, and the simplicity of the app as well. Hands down. The. Best. EVAR!!!! *ehem

For $3, it is a decent app. But if they can add the shuffle/repeat controls and the rating option on the album art screen, nothing can beat this app! Looking forward to it.
I really like this app (especially now that I have a Spotify subscription and now use iTunes and Spotify) because it makes it pretty easy to control those apps. While I really appreciate how easy it is to rate a song in iTunes (although I feel like it takes far too many clicks to do that) it is missing the ability to star (or add to “My Music”) a song in Spotify which means that every time I listen to a song that I want to star I end up having to open the Spotify app anyway. If they added that I’d go up to 4 stars. If they put the rating on the pop-open screen and saved me a click to rate an iTunes song then I’d even go to 5 stars.
Very nice app, simple and easy to use, good replacement for the defunct You Control iTunes
Great app! It works great for Spotify, but I would love to see Sonos support added.
I really enjoy having Skip Tunes to control my Spotify listening with a clean interface that is not there when I don’t need it. As has been mentioned in other reviews, some added features for Spotify would be much appreciated … Such as: - add to “Your Music” - add star - thumb up / thumb down If you’re looking for an easy to use interface to interact with Spotify, this is it. Looking forward to enhanced functions in the future.
Adding rating would be Excellent! too but without the titles i have to use other apps.
I love the app, but I keep looking up in my status bar and seeing it not there because it crashed, yet again. It happens many, many times a day, and makes it almost not worth using.
Like the app so far, does everything it is used to be. Good replacement for the no longer in development Coversutra.
This app has a nice UI and does exactly what it’s advertised to do. I especially like the ability to put skip and play/pause buttons directly in the menubar. However, I’d love a little bit of additional functionality. As a previous reviewer mentioned, it would be great to have a button to add tracks to the “Your Music” section of Spotify, if possible. Also, if possible, it would be great to have the option to have the app show up with a simple mouseover, rather than requiring the user to click on the menubar icon. UPDATE: Please add support for OS X Yosemite’s dark mode! I can’t see the gray-black Skip Tunes menubar item well in my black menubar!
This app hasn’t been update in several months. There is not support for Yosemite dark mode, an the icons for the light them aren’t flat like other icons. But it functions, so it works if you force yourself to go without dark mode, and if you don’t mind the dated icons.
My favorite menubar app for iTunes was You Control: Tunes’, but it stopped being updated in 2009. Switched to Skip Tunes, and it works pretty well, but does frequently quit/dissapear from the menubar. If you use Yosemite’s ‘dark mode’, the app is hard to see. Overall, I like Skip Tunes, but it needs Dark Mode support and stability improvements.
I love that default menubar icon (three buttons- one for pop-up expanded view, one for play/pause, one for skip to next track) is minimal and functional (doesn’t crown the menubar), and the expanded popup gives you precise control over volume and track position, beautifully laid on top of the album cover, the notifications are also handy when you’re not in front of the screen and hear a song you liked and want to find out about it later. The only problem is, the pop-up (with the extended controls and album cover stopped functioning in Yosemite, and doesn’t look like it’s gonna get fixed soon. If it’s abandoned, I’ll be genuinely sad to let this utility too.
I love this app. Have been using it for a couple years. I love how it ties into Spotify or iTunes, even if both are open it handles whatever the last app I was using. The only thing negative I have to say is that I wish that it had the dark mode for the new yosemite menu bar.
Not sure what happened but all of a sudden this app doesn’t work with Spotify
UPDATE: Doesn’t work with the latest version of Spotify. ------------------------- I actually really like this little app. It’s the only menu bar music controller I’ve found that has the simplicity and functionality I like. It does seem to crash frequently. I’ll notice it’s suddently gone from the menu bar fairly regularly. It has also become unusable with Yosemite’s dark mode, which I prefer to use.
I loved the app prior to the latest verison of Spotify. However, Spotify’s updated version (as of March 2015) does NOT work with Skip Tunes anymore. Because this app is marketed specifically for controlling Spotify, they need to update ASAP so as to avoid irate customers.
Although a beautiful, practical app, it needs a Yosemite update soon. I would love to see it in Dark Mode in reverse!
Spotify’s latest update broke this app. Which is understandable, that happens, but it hasn’t been updated in weeks and there isn’t even anything mentioning it on the website.
Bought Skip Tunes last year and loved it but the app hasn’t worked for me at all since late Jan 2015. I’ve deleted/reinstalled and repaired disk permissions—it still won’t even launch. Fix it or give my money back!
